Exercise Is Bad For You.
Exercise is bad for you ! . You ache all over, sweat really badly, can’t breathe and it takes so much effort to find the time to do any. Why would you put yourself through it in the first place ??. For days after exercise every muscle pains and you feel worn out. Then there is the getting enough air in so you don’t pass out !!. This is something I really struggle with, just not having the lung space to get the air in that’s needed to exercise. As well as all this all I want when I am finished is either crap food or a trip to the chipper. This I am sure cancels all health benefits of exercise.
But before everyone rushes out to cancel gym memberships and picks chocolate and coffee in front of the tv instead of a quick walk let me tell you something. I WAS WRONG ABOUT EXERCISE TO A POINT !! . If you had of asked me a month ago I would have told you exercise is just bad for you and pure evil. Then one evening the farmer suggested we start going for a walk some evenings so we could have a few minutes to ourselves away from anything farm related. It had to be walking because we couldn’t spare the time to head to a gym or the money to be honest and we had to be flexable about when we could go. So off we set the first evening in worn out runners for our first walk and yes it was crap, sweaty and I had not nearly enough air. It was also the first night in weeks I slept all night long. We went again a few nights later and it was a little more pleasant, the air was a little better but the sweating was every bit as bad. After this walk I felt better than before I went, I could feel the blood flowing around my body and I felt more alert.
Then it was Sunday and we went for a walk Sunday morning and brought Sid with us. It was a beautiful morning and I got to take some photos. Now I was getting exercise and taking photos which I love. The farmer got a little carried away and decided we should try a little jog, up hill !! . I have no idea what I was thinking when I said yes to that idea, I fecking nearly passed out. But after our hour long walk I felt awake, my breathing was clearer and dare I admit it I was starting to enjoy this exercise lark.
Over the coming three weeks I started to sleep better on the nights I had walked, I was better able to catch my breath and was starting to get a buzz from giving myself a little push. It was nice to start to feel strong in my body and mind. The photo at the top of this post was taken on one of our Sunday walks, how could you not enjoy exercise with views like that. Then last week the universe decided it wanted to keep us at home, give us no time to exercise and move and if I am honest I haven’t felt the best for it. I am back to not sleeping well, having no breath and just not feeling as well as I did.
How did a hater of exercise unless it involved a horse get to a stage after a month of just fast walking with an odd little jog get to a place where I am missing it. My evening walks are playing on my mind, even as a type now I am wondering will the wintery showers stay away so I can go this evening. I don’t want to miss out this week. Now I won’t be a gym person or a fitness class person but I will be a walker, maybe even some slow jogging at times. I want to keep the buzz and the sleeping better. I want to fill my small, bad lungs with gulps of fresh air so I now realise exercise is good for you. That something simple like a little walk can have some really positive effects even on a total hater like me. Exercise isn’t bad for you it is actually good for you once you get past the soreness, sweating and lack of air.
Have you ever been converted to something you totally hate ? Are you an exercise lover or hater ? let me know.
