A Day In My Life.
The plan for this post was to share my day in photos with you all. I was going to take photos as I went about my day but to be honest there is no way to make horse poop look good or your lunch when you are rushing to eat it. So I am just going to share my day in words with a cute photo of my old mare looking slightly nuts as I tried to take her photo.
My day possibly starts like most other Mums, it starts with a wake up call from the youngest farmer in the house anytime from 6am. To be honest I try to drag out getting up till at least 7am if I can at all. Then its down the stairs to face the breakfast and school lunch making. We leave to do the school run about 8.30am or so depending on the day. Once the youngest is in school its back to the yard and time to muck out 8 stables, this usually takes me about an hour and a half. This is one of my favourite times of the day when its just me and the horses.
When all the horses are happy in their fresh beds its time to get other jobs done. These could be anything from runs to the bank or shops for milk to farm paperwork or other jobs I might be needed for which in a while will be lambing. The one job that doesn't get a huge look in during the week is housework. When all of these jobs are done its lunchtime about 12pm then its a rush to get out of my stinky yard clothes, get washed, into work clothes and put some makeup on. Then at 12.30pm its off to work in a local creche for the afternoon.
I am home about 6pm each evening and then its into the evening routine of making dinner, getting the youngest to bed, cleaning up after dinner, making sure Mam is ok for the night and then its on the couch. The evenings go by so fast, I am no sooner sitting down till its time for bed and back up the next day to do it all again. My life is a busy one but there are lots of people just as busy and even more than I am. Life on a farm is always a busy one and no two days will ever be the same, the hours at times can be long and it can be a very unthankful job but its a life I wouldn't change. The secret to being busy is being organised.
How do you organise your day to get the most done?
