Advent Calendar Ideas.
We have reached the 1st of December the start of Blogmas and the start of Advent Calendar season. Sid is the youngest in this house, he is seven and went to bed last night wearing his Santa hat so he was ready to open his Advent calendar this morning first thing. He was wide awake at six thirty but I managed to drag another half an hour out in bed before I had to get up. He was so excited to open day one and see what was waiting for him. This year we went away from the usual chocolate Advent calendar and I bought him a Lego one, he is just mad about Lego he has a box full you could lose a small child in it.
Over the last few weeks I have been looking at all the different types of calendars you can buy, chocolate ones, make up ones, candle ones and some that you would have to sell a kidney or two to buy. I like the buzz that opening a little something creates each morning on the run up to Christmas and we open it as a family but they don't need to be really expensive and I found some ideas yesterday on Pinterest for some gorgeous homemade ones.
This one for example can be found on curbly.com and you could fill the little packages with anything you want. You could fill them with just single chocolates from a box of roses, small little notes or little tokens to say get out of doing homework one evening or having to clean their room. You could put jigsaw pieces into them so over Advent they build it or even a mix of some little toys and sweets. Over on my Pinterest which if you scroll to the bottom you will find a button just click on it , I have started a Blogmas board and have some other simple, do at home ideas if you haven't gotten a calendar yet or just want to try something different next year.
Happy first day of Blogmas and happy calendar opening or making today.
